About Us

Vision #

To be a respected and trusted centre of excellence, supporting and advancing flexible, open, and accessible learning at TRU, in Secwepemcúl’ecw, the province, the country, and beyond.

Mission #

A consolidated centre fostering open and engaged learning experiences through teaching, technology, design, and curriculum supports, resources and professional learning opportunities.

Values #

  • Relationality. We prioritize relationship-building in our work because teaching and learning is relational. We serve as cross-campus connectors, supportive design partners, and inter-institutional collaborators.
  • Inclusion and access. We prioritize maximizing access for the broadest range of learners. We celebrate and support TRU’s unique role to foster access to post-secondary education for everyone in our region.
  • Open practice. We strive to share our work openly and support learners wherever they are. We share mindfully and ethically, with a focus on intent and consent. We are leaders in the open education movement within and beyond TRU.
  • Learner centred approach. We work primarily with faculty and subject-matter experts to improve learner experiences. Whether building curricular materials, supporting faculty, or developing resources, we put the learner’s needs at the centre of everything we do.
  • Responsiveness. We are research-informed and flexible, responding quickly to shifts in pedagogical scholarship, digital innovations, and emerging trends. We understand learner needs now and keep an eye on the future when we undertake our work.
  • Innovation. We support new approaches to teaching and learning.  We ask questions, take thoughtful risks, and share what we discover so others can build on it.
